The Tomb of the Julii into the Vatican Necropolis
Abstract:
Mauzoleum Juliánů ve Vatikánské nekropoli, pravděpodobně z počátku čtvrtého století, je místem, kde se nachází nejstarší dochovaná mozaika s křesťanskou tématikou. Cílem této diplomové práce je zasadit vnitřní mozaikovou výzdobu mauzolea do kontextu dobových pohřebních rituálů se zaměřením na komemorativní rituály.
Abstract:
Mausoleum of Julii in the Vatican Necropolis is most likely dated in the first years of the fourth century. The mausoleum is decorated with the oldest Christian mosaic. This bachelor thesis aims to look at the iconography of the internal decoration in the context of funeral rites of that time, focusing on the commemorative rites.
