Running Kinematics of recreational athlete with a history of Achilles tendon rupture: Case Study

Abstract:

Cílem této případové studie je porovnání biomechaniky pohybu při běhu mezi postiženou a zdravou dolní končetinou u jedince s historií ruptury Achillovy šlachy. Tato případová studie je zaměřena na porovnání stupně pronace, maximální reakční síly a úhlu v sagitální rovině při počátečním kontaktu s podložkou v hlezenním kloubu. Porovnání je provedeno výpočtem směrodatné odchylky měření a zjištění hodnoty indexu velikosti vlivu - ES (Effect of Size). Výsledkem studie bylo zjištění nadměrné pronace, většího úhlu hlezenního kloubu při počátečním kontaktu s podložkou a nárůst reakčních sil při kontaktu s podložkou u postižené dolní končetiny ve srovnání se zdravou dolní končetinou. Z výsledků studie je tedy patrné, že jedinec s historií ruptury Achillovy šlachy v tomto konkrétním případě, je i při rekreačním běhu vystaven zvýšenému riziku poranění a je třeba zvážit snížení objemu běžeckého tréninku nebo zvolit jinou formu aerobních aktivit.

Abstract:

The aim of this case study is to compare the biomechanics of movement during running between the affected and healthy lower limb in an individual with a history of rupture of the Achilles tendon. This case study is focused on comparing the degree of pronation, the maximum reaction force and angle in the sagittal plane at the ankle joint during the initial contact with the floor. The comparison is done by calculating the standard deviation of the measurements and determine the value - ES (Effect of Size). The result of the study was to detect excessive pronation, increasing the angle of the ankle joint and increase reaction forces after contact affected lower limb with the floor. It is evident from the study that a person with a history of Achilles Tendon Rupture in this particular case, is during the recreational run at high risk of injury and it should be reduced the volume of running training or decided another type of aerobic exercise.
