Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá dospíváním pohádkových hrdinek ve vybraném díle britské postmoderní spisovatelky Angely Carterové. Pohádkové hrdinky jejích textů Magické hračkářství, Noci v cirkuse a Krvavá komnata a jiné povídky jsou analyzovány z hlediska přístupu ke svým dospívajícím tělům, jejich měnících se vztahů s matkami, otci a muži obecně, a také z hlediska jejich nazíraní na změny, kterými prochází. Pozornost je věnována i rozdílu mezi ženským mládím u Carterové a v klasických pohádkách, a významu této změny.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the portrayal of female adolescence in selected fairy-tale figures by the British postmodern writer Angela Carter. The female figures of her works The Magic Toyshop, Nights at the Circus and The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories are analyzed from the point view of their attitudes to their new bodies, of changing relationships with their mothers, fathers, and men in general, and also of how they themselves reflect on the change they are going through. Attention is paid also to how Carter's portrayal of women's youth differs from the one of the classical fairy tales and to what significance.
