Achievement motivation of high school students

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce s názvem Výkonová motivace studentů středních škol bylo zjistit úroveň výkonové motivace u vybrané skupiny studentů dvou různých středních škol a to Sportovního gymnázia v Ostravě a Střední školy průmyslové v Opavě. Cíle bylo dosaženo pomocí standardizovaného dotazníku LMI, zjišťující úroveň výkonové motivace žáků. Výkonová motivace se skládá z potřeby dosáhnout úspěšného výkonu ve škole a potřeby vyhnout se školnímu neúspěchu. Výzkum je zaměřen na celkovou úroveň motivace k výkonu, diferenciací úrovně motivace danou pohlavím a zaměřením studia. Významným předmětem práce jsou pojmy jako motivace, výkon a potřeby. Zabývá se také náročným vývojovým obdobím adolescence, kdy se projevuje nová kvalita uvědomování sebe sama a kdy si je člověk vědom svých emocionálních prožitků, přání nebo svých potřeb. Motivace je považovaná jako jeden z rozhodujících hybných činitelů v edukačním procesu. Učitelé mohou mít mylné rozpoznání výkonové motivace svých žáků.

Abstract:

The aim of the diploma thesis The Achievement Motivation of Secondary School Students was to find out the level of achievement motivation of the chosen group of students of two different secondary schools. Those were Sports Grammar School in Ostrava and Secondary Industrial School in Opava. The aim was achieved with the help of the standardized LMI questionnaire that surveys achievement motivation of students. The achievement motivation is comprised of the need to achieve a successful performance at school and the need to avoid a school failure. The research is focused on the total level of motivation for performance, a differentiation of the level of motivation given by sex and specialization of study. An important subject of the thesis is terms such as motivation, performance and needs. It deals with a demanding developmental period of adolescence when new quality of self-realization and realization of one?s emotional experience, wishes or needs are demonstrated. Motivation is considered to be one of the decisive moving factors in educational process. Teachers can wrongly recognize the achievement motivation of their students.
