Authenticity nad optimal music performace

Abstract:

Cílem práce je pojednat o problému ideálního hudebního provedení a s tím související otázkou hudební autenticity a správnosti provedení. První část textu se zabývá ontologií hudebního díla. Autor se v této otázce přiklání k platónskému pojetí a usiluje o vyvození relevantních dopadů platonismu na hudební provedení, a také o objasnění role provedení v rámci platónského schématu. Práce se v této části opírá především o teorii Nicholase Wolterstorffa a Petra Kivyho. V následující části se autor snaží o nalezení definice hudebního provedení a také o určení podmínek pro posouzení jeho správnosti. Třetí část pak otevírá kontroverzní problematiku hudební autenticity a popisuje různé způsoby dosažení autenticity, zejména pak autenticitu dodržení notace, historickou autenticitu, ale také tzv. „interpretativní“ a osobní autenticitu. V poslední kapitole pak práce pojednává o konceptu ideálního provedení a možnosti existence a praktického dosažení dokonalého hudebního provedení.

Abstract:

The main goal of the thesis is to address the concept of an ideal musical performance and the connected issue of musical authenticity and correctness. The first part of the text deals with the ontology of musical works. The author adopts the theory of musical Platonism and tries to further develop its consequences on the musical performance, contemplating the role musical performance plays in the Platonist scheme, relying heavily on the work of Nicholas Wolterstorff and Peter Kivy. The second part aims to define musical performance as an instance of a musical work, and to find the necessary criteria for correctness in musical performance. The last part then attempts to throw light on the highly debated concept of authenticity in musical performance, and to discuss some possible ways of achieving different kinds of musical authenticity, most notably the score-compliance authenticity, historical authenticity, but also less-known approaches such as interpretive and personal authenticity. Finally, the last chapter deals with the concept of an ideal performance, and tries to address the possibility of achieving a perfect musical performance.
