The Roles of Selected Public Parks in the Social Life of the City of Pardubice and Their Future Use for Cultural Events

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je souhrnná analýza dosud nedostatečně zmapovaného vztahu městských veřejných parků a společenského života města Pardubic. Práce hledá odpovědi na otázky, jak se v čase pardubické parky proměňovaly, jak se v nich vyvíjel společenský život, do jaké míry byly zde pořádané akce tematicky poplatné době, kdo je organizoval a s jakým úspěchem. Práce rovněž rozebírá záměry vedení města na revitalizaci parků a porovnává je s předpokládaným vyžitím obyvatel v těchto místech. Pozornost je věnována také participaci občanů v plánovacím procesu. Na základě historické analýzy, příkladů dobré praxe z jiných měst a informací o plánované podobě a funkčním řešení parků navrhuje práce několik společenských akcí, které by se v budoucnu mohly v pardubických parcích konat.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to provide comprehensive analysis of so far poorly surveyed relationship between urban public parks and social life of the city of Pardubice. The paper seeks to answer the questions, how the parks in Pardubice transformed, how the social life evolved in them, to what extent the events organized there were thematically connected with the given time period, who organized them and how successfully. This paper also discusses the plans of city council to revitalize the parks and compares them with the expected use of the parks by residents. Attention is also being paid to the participation of the citizens in the planning process. The thesis also proposes a number of social events that could be held in these parks in the future, based on historical analysis, positive examples from other cities and information about planned form and functionality of the parks.
