Potential of interactive traffic modelling for urban planning

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá možnostmi využití interaktivního dopravního modelování pro územní plánování měst. Text shrnuje v rámci teoretické části základní znalost v oblasti dopravních modelů a nástrojů územního plánování, které ovlivňují oblast dopravního modelování v rámci města. Hlavním přínosem práce jsou navržené dopravní scénáře v praktické části práce, které ukazují možné využití dopravního modeláře v rozhodovací praxi územního plánovače. Navržené scénáře byly realizovány ve webové aplikaci, kde jsou k dispozici ke zhlédnutí. V práci je uveden kompletní postup od úpravy dopravního modelu po jeho vizualizace ve webové aplikaci. Výhody a nevýhody provedeného postupu včetně návrhů na jeho vylepšení jsou shrnuty v diskuzi k dosaženým výsledkům.

Abstract:

This thesis explores the possibilities of using interactive traffic modelling for urban planning. The text summarizes, within the theoretical part, the basic knowledge in the field of traffic models and urban planning tools that affect the field of traffic modelling within the city. The main contribution of the thesis is the proposed traffic scenarios in the practical part of the thesis, which show the possible use of the traffic modeller in the decision-making practice of the urban planner. The proposed scenarios have been implemented in a web application where they are available for viewing and handling. The complete procedure from the modification of the traffic model to its visualization in the web application is presented in the thesis. The advantages and disadvantages of the performed procedure, including suggestions for its improvement, are summarized in the discussion of the results.
