Nursing care for patients with Covid 19 from the perspective of non-medical healthcare professionals

Abstract:

Vzhledem k aktuálně probíhající pandemii COVID-19 jsou zdravotníci konfrontováni se situacemi, které neznají. Nejčastěji se vyskytujícími aspekty jsou strach, vysoká míra stresu a obtížná péče o nemocné, kteří jim ve vysokém počtu umírají. Tématem bakalářské práce je nastínit specifika činností, které se staly součástí naší profese, aniž bychom si je vybrali, a byli na ně připraveni. V teoretické části bakalářské práce všeobecně popisujeme ošetřovatelskou péči o nemocné s infekčním onemocněním, problematiku způsobu přenosu a nákazy včetně úmrtnosti a povinné hlášení těchto nemocí. Podstatná část je věnována nejznámějším pandemiím, které lidstvo zažilo, prevenci a profylaxi onemocnění aktualizované o nejnovější a aktuální Covid-19. Rozbor dosud známých faktů o Covid-19 je rozšířen o specifickou ošetřovatelskou péči s život zachraňujícími výkony. V závěru teoretické části je nastíněna aktuální problematika syndromu vyhoření související s probíhající pandemií, riziko, depresí a s tím spojené péče o pečující osoby. Cílem praktické části práce je analyzovat pomocí kvantitativního výzkumného šetření situaci na covidových odděleních z pohledu personálního obsazení, používání OOPP, vliv na psychiku zdravotníků, nalezení možných pozitiv této nelehké doby, ale i postoj k očkování mezi zdravotníky. Účelem mé práce je zviditelnit náročnou situaci zdravotníků, spojenou s péčí o pacienty s Covid-19, ukázat laické veřejnosti specifitu ošetřovatelské péče, poukázat na fakta z výzkumných prací odborníků zabývajících se touto nemocí a vyvrátit mýty s ní spojené.

Abstract:

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, health professionals are confronted with specific situations they do not know. The most common aspects of such situations are fear, high levels of stress and difficult care of patients who die in large numbers. The topic of the bachelor's thesis is to outline the specifics of activities that have become part of our profession without choosing them and being prepared for them. In the theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis, we generally describe the nursing care of patients with infectious diseases, the issue of transmission and infection, including mortality and mandatory reporting of these diseases. A substantial part is devoted to the most famous pandemics experienced by mankind, the prevention and prophylaxis of diseases updated with the latest and current Covid-19. The analysis of the facts about Covid-19 that are known so far is extended by the specific nursing care with the life-saving procedures. The conclusion of the theoretical part outlines the current issues of burnout syndrome related to the current pandemic, risk, depression and related care of caregivers. The aim of the practical part of the work is to analyze the quantitative research investigation of the situation in the covid departments in the terms of proper staff, the use of PPE, the impact on the psyche of health professionals, finding possible positives of this difficult time, but also the attitude to vaccination among health professionals. The purpose of my work is to visualize the demanding situation of health of professionals associated with the care of patients with Covid-19, to show the general public the specificity of the nursing care, to point out the facts from the research work of experts dealing with this disease and dispel the myths that are associated with it.
