Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá slovotvornými procesy v anglickém jazyce. Hlavní pozornost je zaměřena na kompozita, konkrétně na adjektivní kompozita. Hlavním cílem práce je klasifikovat adjektivní kompozita, jež byla nalezena v žurnalistických textech, a zjistit, jaké typy adjektivních kompozit se vyskytovaly nejčastěji. Klasifikace použitá v této práci je založena na slovních druzích jednotlivých prvků, z nichž se kompozita skládají. V rámci jednotlivých typů jsou dále popsány jejich formální a sémantické vlastnosti, stejně tak jako vztah mezi jednotlivými prvky v rámci kompozit. Také jsou rozebrány vlastnosti, jež jsou obvykle připisovány adjektivům.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with word-formation processes in English. Main attention is devoted to the process of compounding and to compound adjectives in particular. The main objective of the thesis is to classify compound adjectives that were found in journalistic texts and to find out what types of compound adjectives appeared most frequently. The classification used in this thesis is based on the lexical classes of the constituents of the compounds. The formal and semantic properties of each type, as well as the relationship between the constituents of the compounds, are discussed. The properties that are usually ascribed to the class of adjectives are also examined.
