Islamology development in Western countries since the 2nd half of the 19th century to the 1st half of the 20th century

Abstract:

Tato práce se soustředila na popis vývoje islamologie jako obor, který byl již řadu let součástí orientálních studií. Autorka se věnovala vývoji od raných počátků, hlavních center orientalismu v Evropě. Práce je rozdělena do kapitol podle evropských zemí, ve kterých byl prováďen výzkum týkající se oblasti Středního východu. Dále práce rozebírá orientalistická centra, hlavní učence a jejich tvorbu. V každé kapitole byl vybrán jeden hlavní autor a jeho stěžejní dílo. Práce je především odborným úvodem k rozvoji oboru orientálních studií a islamologie. Dalším přínosem práce je také seznam nejvýznamnějších autorů a jejich děl, který je obsažen v textové příloze na konci práce.

Abstract:

This work has focused on the description of the development of Islamology as a field which has been part of Oriental Studies for many years. The author has devoted herself to development from the early beginnings, the main centers of orientalism in Europe. The work is divided into chapters by countries in which research has been conducted concerning the Middle East region. These research centers are further focused on the main scholars and their works. In each chapter, one main author and his masterpiece was selected, which the author focused a little more in detail. The work is primarily a professional introduction to the development of the field of Oriental Studies and Islamology. The main contribution of the work is also the list of the most important authors and their works, which is included in the text supplement at the end of the thesis.
