Business, corruption and other forms of undesirable behavior

Abstract:

Korupce je jedním z hlavních problémů současné světové ekonomiky, a to nejen pro negativní dopady na celkovou prosperitu zemí, ale také z důvodů morálních. Ovlivňuje prakticky všechny sféry společenského života. Vedle toho, že je brzdou zdravého hospodářského podnikání, porušuje zejména etické principy, jež jsou základními pilíři demokracie, a neblaze se promítá do postojů a životní úrovně lidí. Smyslem této práce je vysvětlit podstatu pojmu korupce, její příčiny a důsledky, a na praktických příkladech posoudit její projevy v nadnárodních firmách působících v České republice. Hlavní přínos práce spočívá v analýze výsledků průzkumu názorů a zkušeností zaměstnanců těchto firem a protikorupčních praktik renomovaných zahraničních společností Total Group a Novozymes. Prostřednictvím této analýzy jsou v práci načrtnuty konkrétní metody boje proti korupci, které mohou podnikatelské subjekty využít jako návod k významnému omezení, ne-li přímo eliminaci korupce. V konečném důsledku tak mohou tyto metody přispět k nastolení etických principů v podnikání a jejich dodržováním k celkovému ozdravění ekonomik států.

Abstract:

Corruption is one of the main causes and consequences of world poverty, not only for moral reasons, but also for its negative effects on countries' economies. It affects virtually all spheres of social life by slowing down the economic prosperity of the state, undermining the principles of democracy and having an adverse effect on the environment and even on human health. The purpose of this work is to explain the essence of the concept of corruption, its causes and consequences, and to assess its manifestations in multinational companies operating in the Czech Republic on practical examples. The main contribution of the work lies in the analysis of the results of a survey of opinions and experiences of employees of these companies and anti-corruption practices of renowned foreign companies Total Group and Novozymes. Based on this analysis, specific anti-corruption methods are outlined in the work, which can be an effective tool for business entities to significantly reduce, not directly eliminate corruption. Ultimately, they can contribute to the establishment of ethical principles in business and their observance to the overall recovery of the state economy.
