Assessment of the effect of antimicrobial peptides on infectious diseases causing periodontitis and tooth decay
Abstract:
Among the most common oral diseases, dental carie is one of them. It is mainly caused by Streptococcus mutans, which metabolises carbohydrates to produce lactic acid, which damages tooth enamel. Another type of disease is periodontitis, mainly caused by Porphyromonas gingivalis. This bacterium produces various virulence factors that contribute to periodontal inflammation. Abstract:
Medzi najčastejšie vyskytujúce sa ochorenia ústnej dutiny patrí zubný kaz. Spôsobuje ho hlavne Streptococcus mutans, ktorý metabolizovaním sacharidov produkuje kyselinu mliečnu poškodzujúcu zubnú sklovinu. Ďalším typom ochorenia je parodontitída spôsobená hlavne Porphyromonas gingivalis. Táto baktéria produkuje rôzne virulentné faktory, ktoré prispievajú ku vzniku zápalu parodontu.
