Youth Voting Behavior in the Czech Republic in 2006 in perspective of classical theories

Anotace:

Voting behavior is one of the most developed fields of research in political science. However, it seldom pays attention to young voters and to those who cast their ballots for the first time. This thesis first gives a description of the three main theories of voting behavior – class voting, party identification, and issue voting – and then tests them on the voting behavior of Czech youth. The results show that voting behavior of Czech young adults is in some ways different from the rest of the population and that some classical theoretical models have weak explanatory power for their cases.
