Iron Metabolism in Hematopoiesis

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje metabolismu železa během erytropoézy a významu faktorů, které mají zásadní vliv na tento proces. V úvodní části se práce zabývá seznámením s průběhem samotné erytropoézy a jednotlivých stádií při vývoji erytrocytů. Následně se část práce zaměřuje na hemoglobin a jeho funkci u erytrocytů. Závěrem práce je debatováno samotné železo, které se zapojuje do erytropoézy a vázání kyslíku na hemoglobin. Práce také zmiňuje různé faktory a hormony, které se procesu erytropoézy podílejí, jako je erytropoetin, hepcidin, ferroportin a jiné.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on iron metabolism in hematopoiesis and the importance of factors that have a major influence on this process. In the introductory part, the thesis deals with the erythropoiesis and the different stages in the development of erythrocytes. Subsequently, part of the thesis focuses on hemoglobin and its function in erythrocytes. The thesis concludes with a discussion of iron itself, which is involved in erythropoiesis and the binding of oxygen to haemoglobin. The thesis also discusses the various factors and hormones involved in erythropoiesis such as erythropoietin, hepcidin, ferroportin and others.
