The Wooden Churches in the Carpathian Mountain Area of Slovakia on the UNESCO World Heritage List

Abstract:

This thesis primarily deals with a set of eight sacral buildings listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List in Slovakia. Part of the work is dedicated to general introduction of the topic of sacral buildings and other historical milestones in the construction of such buildings in Slovakia. The aim of this work is to create a comprehensive overview of these churches. The focus is both on history of churches and their gradual transformation, and at the same time also on evaluation of their current state and the pursuit of their long-term sustainability.

Abstract:

Táto bakalárska práca sa primárne zaoberá súborom ôsmich drevených sakrálnych stavieb zapísaných v Zozname svetového dedičstva UNESCO na území Slovenska. Súčasťou práce je všeobecný úvod do problematiky drevených sakrálnych stavieb a základné historické míľniky výstavby takýchto stavieb na Slovensku. Cieľom práce je vytvorenie uceleného prehľadu o týchto kostoloch. Dôraz je kladený jednak na históriu kostolov a ich postupnú premenu, no zároveň je zhodnotený aj ich súčasný stav a snaha o ich dlhodobú udržateľnosť.
