Abstract:

This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of flood protection and management strategies in the Czech Republic, exploring their development in line with European Union directives and national policies. It evaluates the institutional, legislative, and practical frameworks that govern flood risk reduction, and highlights best practices implemented after major flooding events. Using qualitative research, document analysis, and a case study surveys, the thesis brings a comprehensive understanding of Czechs current situation against flood. The study investigates public awareness and preparedness. And findings reveal that while significant progress has been made, challenges remain in public engagement, data collection, and the integration of nature-based solutions. Recommendations are provided to enhance long-term resilience, focusing on improved cooperation among stakeholders and greater community involvement.
