Effect of lactation order on reproductive indicators of Holstein cattle on a selected farm

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na holštýnský skot. Popisuje historii chovu tohoto plemene a následně ho charakterizuje s uvedením chovného cíle. Dále je zde popsáno i samotné šlechtění. Hlavní zaměření práce je na reprodukci skotu, kde jsou zahrnuty veškeré reprodukční ukazatele, říjový cyklus neurohumorální řízení reprodukce. Cílem této práce bylo sledovat krávy na jednotlivých pořadích laktace a následně vyhodnotit jejich stav po otelení, do následného zabřeznutí, období březosti a termín porodu. Data do praktické části byla získána z období od listopadu 2022 do listopadu 2023 na rodinné farmě nedaleko Třebíče na Vysočině. Celkem bylo sledováno 192 kusů zvířat a byly zjištěny tyto průměrné hodnoty jednotlivých reprodukčních ukazatelů: servis perioda 155,06 ± 51,06 dní, inseminační interval 67,65 ± 17,62 dní, mezidobí 396,40 ± 58,70, interinseminační interval 33,96 ± 17,20 dní, a inseminační index činil 2,67 ± 1,36. Z celkového pozorování vyplývá spíše negativní závěr, hlavně z hlediska ekonomického. Farma se tudíž řadí mezi horší farmy s mléčnou užitkovostí, jelikož výsledky nebyly dostačující k míře očekávání.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis focused on Holstein cattle, its breeding history, and breed characteristics, including the breeding goal. Furthermore, the breeding proces is described. The main focus of the thesis is on cattle reproduction, encompassing all reproductive indicators, estrous cycle, and neurohormonal regulation of reproduction. The aim of this work was to monitor cows at various paritis and subsequently evaluate their reproductive indocators. Dairy cows were monitored from calving to calving, thus their status after calving, until subsequent conception, pregnancy period, and calving date were observed. The data for the empirical part were obtaneind from November 2022 to November 2023 on a family farm near Trebic in Highlands. A total of 192 animals were monitored, and the following average values of individual reproductive indocators were determined: service period 155,06±51,06 days, insemination interval 67,65±17,62 days, calving interval 396,40±58,70 days, interinsemination interval 33,96±17,20 days and insemination index was 2,67±1,36. For the monitored farm in this work, a rather negative conclusion emerges, at least from an economic perspective. This dairy farm can be classifield as below-average in terms of reproductive parametres, as the results were not sufficient to meet the level of expectations.
