Comparison of creative approaches: Olia Lialina vs. Petra Cortright

Abstract:

V práci je představena Olia Lialina, jedna z hlavních osobností raného Net artu a Petra Cortright, reprezentující tzv. postinternetovou generaci umělců. Je proveden rozbor charakteristické tvorby obou autorek a následně komparace tvůrčích přístupů k síti a to s ohledem na technologické a sociokulturní podmínky, při kterých tvořily. Cílem práce je určit, v čem se u těchto umělkyň liší přístup k internetu a uvést tyto rozdíly v širším kontextu vývoje internetového umění.

Abstract:

This thesis presents Olia Lialina, one of the leading figures of the early Net art and Petra Cortright, who represents the so-called postinternet generation of artists. The main artworks of both artists are analysed. Then there is a comparison of creative approaches to network with regard to technological and socio-cultural conditions. The aim of this thesis is find differences in creative approaches and attitudes to network and then put these differences in the wider context of internet art.
