Czechoslovakia transition to authoritarian democracy of the Second Republic.

Abstract:

Tématem předkládané bakalářské práce je přechod Československé republiky z demokratického politického systému k systému tzv. autoritativní demokracie v období Druhé republiky. Začátek práce je věnován vzniku Druhé republiky na základě podpisu mnichovské dohody. Stručně jsou nastíněny česko-německé vztahy do roku 1938, které vedly k uspořádání konference v Mnichově a posléze i k podpisu zmíněného dokumentu, na jehož základě pak Československo muselo Německu podstoupit své pohraniční oblasti. Další část práce se zabývá samotnou Druhou republikou, především pak jejím politickým vývojem a jeho odlišnostmi od prvorepublikové demokracie. Pozornost bude také zaměřena na post prezidenta republiky, kterým byl na konci listopadu 1938 zvolen dr. Emil Hácha. Jemu je také věnována samostatná kapitola této práce. Závěr práce se pak zabývá okolnostmi zániku Druhé republiky, které úzce souvisí se vznikem nového státního zřízení na českém území a to Protektorátu Čechy a Morava.

Abstract:

The topic of the bachelor thesis is The transition of the Czechoslovak Republic from a democratic political system to a system of authoritarian democracy in the Second Republic. The beginning of the work was devoted to the formation of the Second Republic on the basis of the signing of the Munich Agreement. Next chapter contains a description of the conference in Munich, but also the briefly Czech-German relations until 1938, which led to the signing of the document, on the basis of which Germany subjugated Czechoslovak´s border areas. Another part of the thesis deals with the Second Republic, especially with its political development and its differences from the First Republic Democracy. Attention will also be focused on the post of President of the Republic. Dr. Emil Hácha was elected to this post. He has also a separate chapter of this work. The conclusion of the thesis deals with the circumstances of the Second Republic's ending, which is closely related to the establishment of a new state system on the Czech territory - The Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.
