Bakalářská práce rozebírá vznik dvou významných interpretačních soutěží pro mládež. Zaměřuje se především na osobnost, která spojuje obě soutěže, tedy na jejich zakladatele Václava Šmerdu. Úvodní teoretická část práce seznamuje čtenáře s historií hudebních soutěží ve světě i u nás.
