Abstract:

Tématem mé bakalářské práce je dekolonizace Afriky, která je konkrétně zaměřena na kolonie Velké Británie. Nejprve se zabývám samotným pojmem dekolonizace, popisuji jeho etapy a poukazuji na propojení dekolonizace s OSN. Následně se věnuji vpádu evropských mocností na území Afriky, které vyústilo v Berlínskou konferenci. Popisuji rozdělení afrického území mezi evropské státy a přitom poukazuji na búrskou válku, která způsobila Velké Británii potíže při obsazování kolonií. Navazuji popisem doby, kdy Velká Británie byla koloniální velmocí a patřilo jí největší impérium ve své době. Při popisu průběhu dekolonizace se zaměřuji nejprve na její počátky a poukazuji na faktory ovlivňující rozmach dekolonizace afrických kolonií. Pokračuji konkrétním průběhem dekolonizace britských kolonií v Africe, které zakončuji příkladem dekolonizace třech britských kolonií, kde popisuji jejich cestu k nezávislosti podrobněji. Závěrem práce je poukázání na vliv dekolonizace na mezinárodní vztahy, kde také zhodnocuji, co dekolonizace přinesla nejen Africe ale i světu.

Abstract:

The topic of my thesis is the decolonization of Africa, which is specifically focused on the colonies of Great Britain. Firstly, I talk about the concept of decolonization itself, I describe the phases and point out the connections with the United Nations. Then I describe the invasion of European powers in Africa, which resulted in the Berlin conference. I describe the distribution of African territory among European states and at the same time I point out the Boer War, which caused difficulties to the UK in reaching settlements. I continue with a description of the time when Great Britain was the colonial power, and it owned one of the largest empires in its time. While describing the times of decolonization, I focus first on its origins and point out the factors influencing the expansion of the decolonization of the African colonies. I continue with a particular course of decolonization of the British colonies in Africa, which I conclude with three examples of decolonization of the British colonies, where I describe their journey to independence in more detail. Finally, my thesis points out the impact of decolonization on international relations, where I also sum up what decolonization has brought not only to Africa but also to the world.
