Arthur C. Danto: The End of Art?

Anotácia:

Tato bakalářská práce nabízí pohled do filozofie umění amerického filozofa a estetika Arthura C. Danta s důrazem na jeho pojetí teorie konce umění. Jejími hlavními zdroji budou kromě eponymní eseje Konec umění článek Svět umění, který této teorii předchází a ve kterém se Danto zabývá problematikou moderního umění. V Konci umění Danto tvrdí, že již umění naplnilo svoji podstatu z hlediska historického vývoje a na jeho místo nastoupila filosofie. Sledujeme návaznost dalších teoretiků na Dantovy myšlenky a v závěrečné části práce nabídneme alternativní pohledy na tuto teorii.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to present philosophy of art of American philosopher and aesthetician Arthur C. Danto, stressing his view on the theory of the end of art. The main sources of this work is both eponymous essay The End of Art and the article The Artworld, which precedes the Danto’s theory and in which Danto deals with modern art issues. In his The End of Art, Danto claims that from the historical point of view art had fulfilled its role and it had been replaced by philosophy. The stances of other theorists is explored and in the conclusion of this thesis, other views on the history is presented.
