New Approaches to the Phenomenology of Religion

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce se zabývá otázkou, zda můžeme v dnešní době mluvit o nějakém neofenomenologickém přístupu ve studiu náboženství a pokud ano, tak jaký je její posun od klasické fenomenologie náboženství. V práci je nejprve definována klasická fenomenologie náboženství a následně neofenomenologie náboženství, kterou autor definoval především na pojetí Waardenburgovy neofenomenologie náboženství. Hlavní část práce obsahuje tři kapitoly, v kterých jsou analyzovány přístupy tří badatelů (A. Sharma, J. Cox a J. Blum), kteří byli vybráni podle stanovené definice neofenomenologie náboženství. Každá kapitola se věnuje jednomu badateli a představuje jeho pojetí fenomenologické metody. Je sledováno, zda autoři užívají techniku vcítění se a rekonstrukce zkušeností. Velký důraz je kladen na jejich pojetí výzkumu z úhlu pohledu aktérů. Po těchto třech obrazech následuje kapitola nazvaná "v kritickém světle," kde jsou analyzovaní autoři zasazeni do současných diskuzí o teorii a metodách religionistiky.

Abstract:

The presented project is dedicated to studying the question, whether it is nowadays possible to discuss any neophenomenological approach in the study of religion and, if yes, what is the progress from classical phenomenology of religion. The project firstly defines classical phenomenology and then neophenomenology of religion, which the author defines mainly on the basis of Waardenburg's neophenomenology of religion. The main part consists of 3 chapters, which analyze the approach of 3 researchers  (A. Sharma, J. Cox a J. Blum), who were chosen according to the specified definition of the neophenomenology of religion. Each chapter is dedicated to one researcher and presents his conception of the phenomenological method. It is studied whether these authors use the technique of empathy and the reconstruction of experience. Much attention is given to their concept of studying the point of view of believers. Following these three chapters is the chapter named "in critical view", where the analyzed authors are placed in current discussions about theory and methods of the study of religion.
