SCUMS Discourse Representation of Seniors in Internet Discussions related to Sylvie Dymáková Documentary

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá tím, jak je konstruován diskurzivní obraz seniorů na internetových diskusích vztahujících se k filmu Silvie Dymákové Šmejdi. Za použití kritické diskurzivní analýzy dle Normana Fairclougha byly identifikovány dva hlavní diskurzivní repertoáry. První klade odpovědnost za kontroverze plynoucí z filmu více na stranu seniorů, ten jsem nazval mohou si za to sami, druhý je charakterizován empatičtějším přístupem diskutérů, kteří vnímají seniora v tomto kontextu jako oběť. Svá zjištění jsem vztáhl ke kritice konceptu aktivního stárnutí od Jaroslavy Hasmanové Marhánkové a dospěl k závěru, že se v rámci diskurzivních reprezentací seniorů objevují koncepty, které potvrzují její obavy z tvorby nových forem nerovností.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the manner in which the discourse representation of the seniors is created in Internet discussions related to Silvie Dymáková´s documentary Šmejdi (Scums). Using the Norman Fairclough´s discourse analysis there were two discourse repertoires identified. The first repertoire places responsibility for controversies ensuing from the movie more to the seniors, hence I labelled it they only have themselves to blame; the second repertoire is characterised by more emphatic approach of the debaters who within this context perceive the seniors as victims. I related my findings to the criticism of the active ageing concept that was voiced by Jaroslava Hasmanová Marhánková and I conclude that within the discourse representations of the seniors there occurred concepts which confirm Ms Marhánková´s concerns that new forms of inequalities are emerging.
