Abstract:

Tato práce se v sedmi kapitolách zabývá vztahy českých a slovenských spisovatelů s komunistickou mocí v letech 1963-1968. První rovina výkladu je nesena po časové ose a autor v ní postupně odkrývá jednotlivé události (spisovatelské sjezdy, povahu kulturně-politické publicistiky, kauzy časopisů), jež je možno považovat za předpoklady reformního procesu Pražského jara 1968. Důraz je současně kladen na osvětlení očekávání a aktivit, s nimiž spisovatelé vstupovali do polednového období roku 1968, kdy výrazně přispěli k celkovému obrazu Pražského jara. V druhé rovině studie se autor ve vymezeném časovém období snaží postihnout rozdíly v přístupu slovenských a českých spisovatelů k vlastním politickým elitám a odpovědět na otázku odlišné povahy společenských procesů v obou částech republiky na konci šedesátých let.

Abstract:

This dissertation focuses in seven chapters on the relationships between Czech and Slovak writers and the Czechoslovakian Communist Party in 1963-1968. The analysis has two aims; first, it proceeds chronologically and the author seeks to clarify particulary events, including the congresses of the Writers´ Union, cultural-political issues and conflicts around cultural journals which can be interpreted as causes of the reform movement of Prague Spring. In this context the author addresses the expectations and activities which the writers brought with them into 1968 when they collaborated on the reform process. Second, the author examines the differences in the relationship of Slovak writers with their political elites on the one hand and Czech writers with the Communist Party leadership on the other. The contrasting relationships of intellectuals with power-holders provides an explanation for the distinctions in reform processes within the two parts of Czechoslovakia in the end of 1960s.
