The General Problem of Understanding with Regard to Works of Paul Ricoeur

Abstract:

Tato práce vychází z obecně kladené otázky po smyslu rozumění a jejím cílem je podat konzistentní a platnou, třebaže ne definitivní, odpověď na tuto otázku. Postup práce je založen na argumentaci a interpretaci zvolených děl autorů hermeneutické tradice, zejména francouzského filosofa Paula Ricoeura. První část práce je vstupem do problematiky. Ve střední části je zkoumán jazyk, jeho systémové pojetí a problémy z takového pojetí vyplývající. V poslední části práce je na základě předchozích poznatků popsán sám proces rozumění.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis arises from a general question of the meaning of understanding and its goal is to give a consistent and valid, yet not necessarily definitive, answer to this question. The method of this thesis is based on argumentation and interpretation of chosen works by authors of the hermeneutic tradition, namely those by a French philosopher Paul Ricoeur. First part of this thesis is an introduction to the general problem of understanding. The central part is devoted to language, its conception as a system and problems which stems from such a conception. In the last section the process of understanding itself is described based on the previous findings.
