Stress and fear in students in the final year of secondary school

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská diplomová práce se zabývá prožíváním strachu a stresu žáky během posledního ročníku střední školy, a to v kontextu maturitní zkoušky a volby další životní dráhy. Hlavním cílem je zjistit, jakým způsobem se strach a stres u žáků v průběhu roku projevuje. Dílčími cíli potom je, jak zde figuruje vliv sociálního okolí a jaké způsoby žáci volí pro zvládání působící zátěže. V teoretické části jsou vysvětleny pojmy strach a stres jak z obecného hlediska, tak v kontextu školního prostředí. Důležitou součástí je také kapitola o specifikách posledního ročníku střední školy, která pojednává o tom, čím je toto období pro žáky stěžejní a proč má smysl se mu v souvislosti se strachem a stresem blíže věnovat. Empirická část vychází z kvalitativního výzkumu a popisuje zkoumaný strach a stres vyskytující se v různé intenzitě ve třech klíčových období školního roku, jež z výzkumu vyplynula.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the experience of fear and stress by students during the last year of high school, in the context of the final exam and the choice of the future life path. The aim of the thesis is to find out how fear and stress manifest themselves in students during the year. The sub-aims are then how the influence of the social environment plays a role here and what ways students choose to cope with this stressful period. In the theoretical part, the concepts of fear and stress are explained both in general terms and in the context of the school environment. An important part is the chapter on the specifics of the final year of secondary school, which discusses how this period is crucial for students and why it makes sense to focus on it in relation to fear and stress. The empirical part is based on qualitative research and describes the researched fear and stress occurring in different intensities in three key periods of the school year, that emerged from the research investigation.
