Uniquely British Fascism? The British Union of Fascists and its Italian Predecessors

Abstract:

This thesis concentrates on fascism in Italy and Britain, specifically on the differences between the British Union of Fascists and the National Fascist Party. This thesis aims to find and compare the differences and similarities in ideology, party leaders, propaganda strategies, anti-Semitism, and reasons for the fall of these two political parties. This was achieved by analysing information obtained from academic articles, history books, and official documents and the data was compared to other sources to validate the accuracy of the information. The analysis revealed that BUF tried to recreate PNF's success, which is why they shared so many different aspects. However, the BUF was forced to accommodate these aspects to the needs of British politics and society, from which arose the differences between their respective fascist parties.

Abstract:

Tato práce se zaměřuje na fašismus v Itálii a Británii, konkrétně na rozdíly mezi Britskou unií fašistů a Národní fašistickou stranou. Cílem práce je najít a porovnat rozdíly a podobnosti v ideologii, stranických vůdcích, propagandistických strategiích, antisemitismu a příčinách pádu těchto dvou politických stran. Toho bylo dosaženo analýzou informací získaných z odborných článků, historických knih a oficiálních dokumentů, které byly pokud možno porovnány s dalšími zdroji, aby byla ověřena správnost informací. Analýza odhalila, že BUF se snažila zopakovat úspěch PNF, což je důvod, proč sdílely tolik různých aspektů. BUF však byla nucena tyto aspekty přizpůsobit potřebám britské politiky a společnosti, z čehož vznikly rozdíly v jejich fašistických stranách.
