Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is to analyze a collection a shorts stories Seventeen Syllables and Other Stories written by Japanese-American author Hisaye Yamamamoto. The thesis focuses on the description of two generations of Japanese immigrants in Yamamoto´s fiction. The main topic analyzed in the thesis is the generation gap between the two generations. Cílem práce je analýza sbírky povídek Seventeen Syllables and Other Stories japonsko-americké autorky Hisaye Yamamoto. Práce zkoumá dvě generace japonských přistěhovalců a jejich zobrazení v povídkách Hisaye Yamamoto. Předmětem zkoumání se stává především generační konflikt mezi těmito dvěmi generacemi.
