Czech-German relations on the basis of sources related to commune Česká Metuje

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis discusses the Czech-German relations on the basis of written sources related to commune Česká Metuje. The materials used for this thesis include mainly books and documents based on the memories and historically based facts concerning the history and individual events influencing the life and relations between Czechs and Germans on the territory on the today’s area of the commune Česká Metuje. The whole thesis is divided into two parts, namely the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part explains in detail the historical development of the today’s territory of Česká Metuje and its influence on the development of Czech-German relations in this area. The practical part includes an interview with a current inhabitant of Česká Metuje, a representa-tive of a German family who has lived his whole life in the cadastral territory of the com-mune Česká Metuje, Skalka. The interview is based on his own childhood memories, when his life was accompanied by inconveniences and problems as a German living on Czech ter-ritory not so long after the end of the Second World Was, as well as on the memories of his father, who was personally present at many historical milestones of the commune Česká Metuje. The aim of this bachelor’s thesis is to trace the development of Czech-German relations from the very beginning, i.e., the first mentions of individual communes – Česká Metuje, Deutsch Matha-Wlasenka and Skalka, which are today cadastral territories of the commune Česká Metuje, to the first time after the Second World War and the associated expulsion of Germans from the Czechoslovakia, on the basis of the surviving written documents of the commune. The practical part is further expanded to include the later period longer after the already mentioned expulsion of Germans from the commune Česká Metuje, when the Ger-mans who were able to stay in the commune faced certain problems and considerable disad-vantages that affected their everyday life.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská diplomová práce se zabývá česko-německými vztahy na základě pí-semných zdrojů k obci Česká Metuje. K materiálům využitých ke zpracování této práce patří především knihy a dokumenty založené na vzpomínkách a historicky podložených faktech týkajících se historie a jednotlivých událostí ovlivňující život a vztahy mezi Čechy a Němci na území dnešní obce Česká Metuje. Celá práce se dělí na dvě části, konkrétně na část teoretickou a praktickou. V teoretické části je objasněn detailněji historický vývoj dnešního území České Metuje a jeho vliv na vývoj česko-německých vztahů na tomto území. V rámci praktické části je zpracován rozhovor s nynějším obyvatelem obce Česká Metuje, zástupcem německé rodiny, který po dlouhá léta žije na katastrálním území obce Česká Metuje, Skalka. Rozhovor je postaven na jeho vlastních vzpomínkách z dětství, ne zas tak dlouho po konci 2. světové války, stejně tak jako na vzpomínkách jeho otce, který byl u mnoha historických milníků obce Česká Metuje osobně přítomen. Cílem této práce je sledování vývoje česko-německých vztahů od samotných počátků, tedy prvních zmínek, jednotlivých obcí – Česká Metuje, Deutsch Matha-Wlasenka a Skalka, které jsou dnes katastrálními územími obce Česká Metuje, až do doby po 2. světové válce a s tím spojeným odsunem Němců z Československa, a to na základě dochovaných písemných podkladů k obcím. Praktická část je dále rozšířena o dobu pozdější, tedy o dobu déle po od-sunu Němců z obce Česká Metuje, kdy Němci, kteří v obci měli možnost zůstat i po již zmí-něném odsunu, se potýkali s jistými problémy a značnými nevýhodami, které ovlivňovali jejich každodenní život.
