The representatives of the genus Pseudomonas, especially Pseudomonas aeruginosa, are opportunistic Gram-negative pathogens, known for their natural and acquired antibiotic resistance and the ability to produce biofilm. Zástupcovia rodu Pseudomonas, najmä Pseudomonas aeruginosa, sú oportúnne gramnegatívne patogény, známe svojou prirodzenou a získanou rezistenciou na antibiotiká a schopnosťou produkovať biofilm. Biofilm, ako spoločenstvo mikrobiálnych buniek obklopených extracelulárnou matrix a adherujúcich k rôznym povrchom, často uľahčuje vznik chronických infekcií spôsobené P. aeruginosa.
