Petrographic study of other lithic industry from neolithic settlement near Brno-Holásky and Velatice

Abstract:

V diplomové práci je zpracován petroarcheologický a petrografický výzkum artefaktů tzv. ostatní kamenné industrie pocházejících z povrchových sběrů na neolitických sídlištích Brno-Holásky a Velatice a surovin těchto artefaktů. Artefakty z obou sídlišť jsou značně fragmentární; typologicky se jedná o kameny drtících zařízení a jeden brus. Petrografie artefaktů byla zkoumána hlavně makroskopicky a pomocí optické mikroskopie výbrusů, u některých výbrusů bylo pomocí elektronové mikrosondy zkoumáno i chemické složení minerálů. Téměř 77 % artefaktů z Holásek je zhotoveno z klastických sedimentů arkózového složení, téměř 8 % z drob; podřadně je zastoupen také metakonglomerát (deformovaná bazální devonská klastika), bítešská ortorula, amfibolický mikrodiorit a dva druhy terciérních hornin (slepenec a písčitý vápenec). Velkou část kolekce artefaktů z Velatic tvoří klastické sedimenty arkózového složení zastoupené 37 % a droby zastoupené 36 %, méně se na surovinovém spektru kolekce podílejí kulmské slepence a terciérní slepenec. V případě klastik arkózového složení jde o sedimenty boskovické brázdy původem z údolí Svratky u Veverské Bítýšky, kde v pravěku docházelo k jejich exploataci či těžbě. Kulmské slepence a většina zkoumaných drob nepochybně pochází z formací kulmu drahanské vrchoviny s povrchovými výchozy u Velatic. Zdroje metakonglomerátu a bítešské ortoruly je možno najít v oblasti svratecké klenby. Mikrodiorit má zdroje v brněnském masivu (především metabazitová zóna masivu). Zdroje terciérních hornin leží na různých místech jižní Moravy. K přepravě surovin v pravěku nejspíše sloužila říční síť.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with petroarcheological and petrographic research of the other lithic artifacts discovered at the Neolithic settlements in Brno-Holásky and Velatice and research of the stone raw materials of these artifacts. In many cases, the artifacts are fragmented. They were typologically classified as hand-mill stones and a sharpening stone (whetstone). Petrography of these tools was studied mainly from the macroscopic perspective and with usage of optical microscopy of thin sections. In addiction, the chemical composition of minerals in some of the thin sections was analyzed with the electron microprobe. Nearly 77 % of the artifacts from Holásky is made of sedimentary rocks with an arkose composition, nearly 8 % is made of greywackes; less common raw materials are metaconglomerate (the deformed basal Devonian clastics), the Bíteš orthogneiss, amphibole microdiorite and also two kinds of Tertiary rocks (conglomerate and sandy limestone). A huge part, about 37 %, of the artifact collection from Velatice is represented by arkose-composed sediments, about 36 % is represented by greywackes; Lower Carboniferous conglomerates and a Tertiary conglomerate is also present in the collection. The arkose-composed sediments come from the Boskovice-furrow formations in The Svratka river valley near Veverská Bítýška, the area of the prehistoric exploitation (mining) of these rocks. The Lower Carboniferous conglomerates and also greywackes come from the Drahany Highlands rock formations from sources present near Velatice. The metaconglomerate and the Bíteš orthogneiss can be found in the Svratka-nappe area. The microdiorite has sources in the Brno Massif (especially the metabazite zone of the massif). The natural sources of the analyzed types of Tertiary rocks are located in several different areas in the South Moravian Region. During the prehistoric age, rivers were probably used for transporting stone.
