Alpha-limit sets

Abstract:

Navrhujeme jedno úplné a jedno částečné řešení vybraných problémů z nedávno publikovaného článku [On Backward Attractors of Interval Maps, J. Hantáková, S. Roth, Nonlinearity, 34(11):7415-7445, sep 2021]. Konkrétně dokážeme hypotézu navrhující charakterizaci množin β-limitních bodů (tj. limitních bodů všech hromadných bodů zpětných větví určitého bodu) pro zobrazení na grafu. Ukážeme, že β-limitní množiny splývají s Birkhoffovým centrem, a že podmínka, aby daný bod náležel do své β-limitní množiny, je ekvivalentní s tím, že zvolený bod náleží do β-limitní množiny nějakého jiného bodu. V druhé části třetí kapitoly se věnujeme otázce, zda je vlastnost mít všechny sα-limitní množiny uzavřené generická a dokážeme, že zobrazení s ne všemi sα-limitními množinami uzavřenými jsou hustá v prostoru C^0([0, 1]), což částečně řeší otevřený problém také navržený ve výše zmíněném článku.

Abstract:

We suggest one complete and one partial solution to the selected problems presented in the recently published article [On Backward Attractors of Interval Maps, J. Hantáková, S. Roth, Nonlinearity, 34(11):7415-7445, sep 2021]. Specifically we prove a conjecture proposing a characterisation of sets of β-limit points (i.e. limit points of all accumulation points of backward orbit branches of a specific point) for graph maps. We show that β-limit sets coincide with Birkhoff centre and that the condition for a point to belong to its β-limit set is equivalent to belonging to the β-limit set of some other point. In the second part of the third chapter we deal with genericity of having all sα-limit sets closed and we prove that maps with not all sα-limit sets closed are dense in C^0([0, 1]), which partially solves open problem also suggested in the aforementioned article.
