Public Speaking Anxiety Among Masaryk University Students

Abstract:

Předkládaná bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou úzkosti z veřejného projevu u studentů Masarykovy univerzity. Cílem této práce je představit úzkost z veřejného projevu a následně zjistit, jaká je míra úzkosti z veřejného projevu u studentů Masarykovy univerzity. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a empirickou část. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na osvětlení problematiky úzkosti z veřejného projevu, přičemž empirickou část otevírá kapitola o metodologii výzkumu, kde bylo použito dotazníkové šetření, jehož výsledky jsou následně interpretovány v další kapitole. Výsledky napomohly ke zjištění míry úzkosti u studentů Masarykovy univerzity v souvislosti s jejich demografickými charakteristikami. Ačkoliv nebyla zjištěna statistická významnost mezi národností a mírou úzkosti, statisticky vyšší úroveň byla zjištěna u nebinárních, gender fluid osob a žen ve srovnání s muži. Navíc bylo pozorováno, že úzkost statisticky významně klesá s rostoucím věkem.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of public speaking anxiety among Masaryk University students. The aim of this work is to present anxiety about public speaking and then find out what is the level of anxiety about public speaking among students of Masaryk University. The work is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part focuses on illuminating the issue of public speaking anxiety, while the empirical part opens with a chapter on research methodology, where a questionnaire survey was used, whose results are subsequently interpreted in the next chapter. The results helped to determine the level of anxiety among Masaryk University students in connection with their demographic characteristics. Although no statistical significance of anxiety was found between nationality and the level of anxiety, a statistically higher level was found for non-binary, gender fluid persons, and women compared to men. Moreover, the level of anxiety was observed to decrease with increasing age.
