Sexualisation of Celebrities and Explicit Content in English-language Boys´ Love BTS Fan Fiction

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na fenomén fanfikce a její homoerotický subžánr s názvem Boys' Love. Práce se přímo zaměřuje na fan fikci psanou o skutečných lidech, a to o korejské chlapecké skupině BTS. Teoretická část představuje fanfikci z jejího sociálněkulturního a historického aspektu a vyzdvihuje její charakteristické znaky. Analytická část se zaměřuje na fakfikci jako žánr o tělech místo postav a rozebírá sexualizaci vystupujících těl a jejich genderové vyobrazení. Práce vyvozuje, že zatímco vyobrazené postavy jsou modelovány na skutečných lidech, podobnost mezi těly v fanfikci a skutečnými lidmi není žádná.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the phenomen of fan fiction and its homoerotic subgenre called Boys' Love. It specifically focuses on real person fan fiction, namely about the Korean boy band BTS. The theoretical part introduces fan fiction from its sociocultural and historical points and highlights its characteristics traits. The analysis focuses on approaching fan fiction as a genre about bodies instead of characters and discusses sexualisation of the performing bodies and their gendered portrayal. The analysis conludes that though the characters are modelled after real people, there is no resemblance between the body in the fan fiction and the real person.
