Iran and Saudi Arabia in the context of regional conflicts in the Middle East

Abstract:

Tato práce se zaměřuje na analýzu Saúdské Arábie a Íránu, a to s cílem zkoumat jejich vzájemné postoje a intervence v klíčových regionálních konfliktech, jako je Íránsko-Irácká válka, První válka v Zálivu a Druhá válka v Zálivu. Důraz je kladen nejen na přímé důsledky, které tato rivalita přináší, ale také na širší geopolitické a bezpečnostní dopady, jež ovlivňují celý Blízký východ. Zaměření se na tyto tři velké konflikty umožní lépe pochopit, jak se odlišnosti mezi dvěma aktéry promítají do konkrétních politických a vojenských strategií, které obě země prosazují, a jaké dlouhodobé následky s sebou tato rivalita nese.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the analysis of Saudi Arabia and Iran, with the aim of examining their mutual positions and interventions in key regional conflicts, such as the Iran-Iraq War, the First Gulf War, and the Second Gulf War. The emphasis is placed not only on the direct consequences of this rivalry but also on the broader geopolitical and security implications that affect the entire Middle East. Focusing on these three major conflicts will allow us to understand better how the differences between the two actors translate into the specific political and military strategies that both countries pursue and what long-term consequences this rivalry entails.
