The mythical world tree of old Germans

Abstract:

The Master's Thesis contents „Yggdrasil. Der Weltenbaum der alten Germanen“ a systematic description of idea about mythical world tree of the German tribes. The mythical tree is bearer of nine mythical worlds inhabited by Germanic opinion different beings, for example, gods, elves, humans, giants, dwarves or zoomorphic creatures. The Master's Thesis also deals with historical sources relating to Germanic mythology and describing harmony between old Germans and nature or belief of power of the nature.

Abstract:

Obsahem magisterské diplomové práce „Yggdrasil. Der Weltenbaum der alten Germanen“ je systematický popis představy mytického světového stromu germánských kmenů, jakožto nositele devíti bájných světů, které dle germánského mínění obývali různorodé bytosti; bohové, elfové, lidé, obři, trpaslíci či zoomorfní stvoření. Magisterská diplomová práce se neopomíjí zabývat historickými prameny týkající se germánské mytologie, přiblížit spjatost starých Germánů s přírodou či jejich víru v sílu přírody.
