Prevention of mastitis in Holstein dairy cows

Abstract:

Mastitida je jedním z nejdůležitějších onemocnění mléčné žlázy. Zvýšený výskyt tohoto onemocnění je dán šlechtěním mléčného skotu na vyšší užitkovost, které je doprovázeno zvýšenou náchylností k mastitidám. I proto se zvýšila obtížnost prevence tohoto onemocnění. Nedílnou součástí aktuálního výzkumu je snížení mastitid za účelem snížení spotřeby antibiotických léků, eliminace rezistence mikroorganismů a snížení ekonomických ztrát v chovech při výskytu mastitid (tj. snížení dojivosti, zvýšení nákladů na léky, snížená tržnost mléka). Proto je důležité apelovat na systematické vyhledávání subklinických mastitid a zároveň využívat selektivní zaprahování. K tomu je nezbytné využívat moderní přístroje vyhodnocující počty somatických buněk v mléce přímo na farmě a stájovou mikrobiologickou kultivaci. Náchylnost k mastitidě je založena na imunitě, zdraví, výživě a welfare dojnic. Proto je důležité porozumět imunitním procesům v těle pro zvýšení odolnosti zvířat. V současné době se různé studie zaměřují na fyziologické procesy mléčné žlázy a jejich souvislosti s jejími imunitními mechanismy. Zároveň jde také o popsání, odhalení a zapojení genů do fyziologických procesů, a tím správně definovat potencionální rezistence vůči mastitidě.

Abstract:

Mastitis is one of the most important diseases of the mammary gland. The increased incidence of this disease is due to the breeding of dairy cattle for higher productivity, which is accompanied by an increased susceptibility to mastitis. Also, for this reason, the difficulty of preventing this disease has increased. An integral part of the current research is the reduction of mastitis to reduce the consumption of antibiotic drugs and the elimination of microorganism resistance and reduce the economic losses in farms in the event of mastitis (i.e., reduced milk yield, increased drug costs, reduced marketability of milk). Therefore, it is important to appeal to a systematic search for subclinical mastitis and at the same time to use selective sedation. For this, it is necessary to use modern devices to evaluate the number of somatic cells in milk directly on the farm and to stable microbiological cultivation. Susceptibility to mastitis is based on the immunity, health, nutrition, and welfare of dairy cows. Therefore, it is important to understand the immune processes in the body to increase the resistance of animals. Currently, various studies focus on the physiological processes of the mammary gland and their connections with its immune mechanisms, and at the same time to describe and reveal the genes involved in the physiological processes, thereby revealing potential resistance genes to mastitis.
