Painting Decoration of the Chateau Chapel in Velké Losiny

Abstract:

Renesanční zámek ve Velkých Losinách prošel ve 30. a 40. letech 18. století stavebními úpravami, kterými získala barokní podobu přilehlá zahrada a také nová kaple. Ta vznikla propojením prostoru dvou pater zámecké budovy vedle kaple původní (menší, taktéž barokně upravené). Obě byly vyzdobeny štukovým dekorem, sochařskými a malířskými díly, kterým vévodí nástropní fresky Jana Kryštofa Handkeho. V malé kapli je to malba Oslava Jména Panny Marie. V kapli velké se pak nachází podobná kompozice, která bývá nazývána Hold tvorstva Jménu Ježíšovu. Kristu, jenž je zde zastoupen iniciálami IHS, se klaní andělé a alegorické postavy čtyř světadílů, které představují veškeré lidstvo. Práce se zabývá převážně ikonografií zobrazených motivů, podává i informace o zámku a jeho majitelích, kterými byli příslušníci rodu Žerotínů, a také o autorovi fresek – olomouckém malíři Janu Kryštofu Handkem.

Abstract:

There were construction works at renaissance chateau in Velké Losiny in 30s and 40s of the 18th century. Thanks to these works the chateau garden and new chapel were changed into baroque forms. The chapel was built next to the previous chateau chapel (smaller one, which was also rebuilt in 18th century). Both of them were decorated by the stucco, sculptures and paintings, especially fresco paintings by Jan Kryštof Handke. There is a fresco called Celebration of the Name of Virgin Mary in the small chapel. On the ceiling of the bigger one there is a similar composition called Homage to the Name of Jesus. There are angels and allegorical persons of four continents (which represent whole mankind) adoring Jesus in the form of letters IHS. This thesis deals with iconography of depicted motives, information about the chateau and his owners (Zierotin family) and with author of fresco paintings – Jan Kryštof Handke.
