Analysis and comparison of pension systems in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic in the years 1993-2020

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce analyzuje a komparuje důchodové systémy v České republice a Slovenské republice v letech 1993-2020. Práce se snaží zhodnotit úspěšnost provedených důchodových reforem v obou státech, a to především z hlediska dosažení dlouhodobé finanční udržitelnosti důchodových systémů. Teoretická část práce vymezuje základní pojmy z oblasti problematiky penzijních systémů. Dále je představen vývoj důchodových systémů v ČR a SR od roku 1993 a jejich struktura v současnosti. Praktická část práce se nejprve zabývá komplexní analýzou demografického vývoje v obou státech. Práce následně analyzuje penzijní reformy českého a slovenského důchodového systému a jejich vliv na vývoj příjmů a výdajů na dávky důchodového pojištění. Na základě analýzy příjmů a výdajů důchodového účtu před a po zavedení reforem lze důchodové reformy v obou státech označit za neúspěšné, neboť se jejich přijetím nepodařilo docílit dlouhodobé finanční udržitelnosti důchodových systémů.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis analyzes and compares the pension systems in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic during the years 1993-2020. The thesis attempts to evaluate the success of performed pension reforms in both countries, especially in terms of achieving long-term financial sustainability of pension systems. The theoretical part of the thesis defines basic concepts in the domain of pension systems. Futhermore, the development of pension systems in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic since 1993 and their current structure is presented. The practical part of the thesis concerns the comprehensive analysis of demographic development in both countries. The thesis subsequently analyzes the pension reforms of the Czech and Slovak pension systems and their impact on development of income and expenditure on pension insurance benefits. Based on the analysis of the income and expenditure of the pension account before and after the implementation of reforms, pension reforms in both countries can be indicated as unsuccessful due to their failure of achieving long-term financial sustainability of pension systems.
