Meaning of charity ideals in terms helping clients

Abstract:

Má bakalářská práce vychází z teze, že ačkoliv se charita veřejně pokládá za bytostnou organizaci Římskokatolické církve, zároveň se v době postmoderny a svobody vyznání neobejde bez pracovníků „mimokřesťansky orientovaných“. Formou 24 kvalitativních rozhovorů s pracovníky Oblastní charity Hradec Králové zkoumám, jaký význam oni sami přisuzují křesťanským ideálům pro svoji každodenní práci s klienty. Docházím k tomu, že křesťanství je pro většinu různě smýšlejících pracovníků srozumitelné pouze tam, kde má své praktické uplatnění (např. pomoc lidem v nouzi), zatímco nárůst metafyzických deklarací (tzv. jazykových her) by mohl současnou situaci destabilizovat. Deklarovaná víra, zdá se, nemusí být vždy pozitivem pro žitou charitní pomoc. Významné motivační předpoklady je třeba hledat jinde.

Abstract:

My bachelor thesis is based on the fact that although charity is publicly regarded as an essential organization of the Roman Catholic Church, it is also necessary – in the time of postmodernism and freedom of belief – to employ people ‘un-Christian oriented’. In the form of 24 qualitative interviews with workers of Regional Charity Hradec Králové I search for the meaning they attach to Christian ideals of helping clients daily. I find that Christianity is understandable for the most of different-minded workers only in the way, where they see practical applications (such as helping people in need), while the growth of some metaphysical declarations (‘the language games’) could destabilize the current situation. It seems the declared faith is not always positive for living charity help. Relevant motivational assumptions should be found elsewhere.
