Sculptural Decoration of the Holy Stairs in Brno
Abstract:
Svaté schody, se nachází v prostorách Lorety, která je součástí minoritského kláštera svatých Janů v Brně. Schody byly postaveny roku 1722 Mořicem Grimmem, nejžádanějším architektem tohoto období v Brně. Schody vznikly díky iniciativě brněnského faráře Barnabáše Freislera a finančnímu odkazu Michaela Wertemy. Posvátná úcta k těmto schodům má dlouhou tradici a trvá do dnes. Abstract:
The Holy stairs are situated in precinct of Loreta which is a part of minorites cloister and church of st. John the Baptist and st. John the Evangelist. The stairs were built in 1722 by Mořic Grimm. In city of Brno he belonged to the most requested architects of this period. The stairs rised thanks to the initiative of vicar Barnabas Freisler and Michael Wertemas financial heritage.
