Popularization of science and philosophy for children: the topic of totalitarianism and its general and certain features

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje popularizaci filozofie pro děti mladšího školního věku s užším zaměřením na téma totalitarismu a jeho obecných znaků. Účelem práce je ukotvení a praktická podpora teorie, že popularizaci filozofie pro děti mladšího školního věku lze respektovat jako plnohodnotnou oblast výchovy a vzdělávání. A tedy že se jeví jako smysluplné věnovat se rovněž na akademické půdě tvorbě a vývoji popularizačně vzdělávacích metod směřujících k této cílové skupině. Výše zmíněné je přímo demonstrováno na konkrétním příkladu: téma totalitarismus. Téma bylo vybráno jednak jako aktuální filozofická oblast, spadající svými konotacemi do oblasti Evropských kulturních studií, jednak jako téma, které je obecně považováno za sféru dětem mladšího školního věku obtížně komunikovatelnou. Diplomová práce si klade za cíl, teoretickými argumenty v první části práce a praktickými prvky v druhé části práce, podpořit výchozí předpoklad, že děti mladšího školního věku disponují přirozenými předpoklady pro filozofování a že by mohlo být užitečné vzít tuto skutečnost na vědomí jako otevřenou možnost prolnutí filozofie a filozofování více do středu celé společnosti.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with popularization of philosophy for children of younger school age with focus on the topic of totalitarianism and its general features. The purpose of the work is to record the theoretical base and practical support of the theory stating that the popularization of philosophy for children of younger school age can be respected as an adequate area of education. Therefore it makes sense to dedicate ourselves to creating and development of popular science methods within the academic area, aiming at given target group The above mentioned is directly demonstrated on a specific example: the topic of totalitarianism. The topic was selected both as a current philosophical area, falling with its connotations in the field of European cultural studies, and as a topic that is generally considered to be a sphere that is difficult for children of younger school age to comprehend. The diploma thesis aims, with theoretical arguments in the first part and practical elements in the second part of the thesis, to support the initial assumption that young school children naturally tend to philosophizing, and that it could be useful to take this fact into account as an open possibility of moving philosophy and philosophizing more into the center of the entire society.
