Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá středověkou lidovou poezií, specificky anglickými a skotskými historickými baladami, z hlediska literární teorie a historie s přihlédnutím k poetickým rysům balad a jejich tématům. Práce analyzuje jednotlivé balady a také se zabývá událostmi a historickými postavami, které jsou vylíčeny v daných baladách. Zachycuje sociální a historický kontext doby, který se odráží v baladách. Srovnává balady s jejich skutečnými historickými předlohami. Práce se skládá z úvodní teoretické části, praktických analýz balad a závěru. Úvodní teoretická část zahrnuje analýzu balad z hlediska literární teorie a historie, praktická část zkoumá jednotlivé balady, závěrečná část je založena na rozboru balad a shrnuje praktické analýzy balad. Studijní materiál zahrnutý v práci pokrývá jak primární tak sekundární zdroje.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with Medieval English and Scottish popular poetry, specifically the English and Scottish popular historical ballads. It analyses the ballads from the point of view of literary theory, subject matters and the use of poetical features. In the thesis, the ballads are classified according to their topics. The work provides social and historical context and outlook of Medieval English literature with emphasis on historical ballads. The thesis consists of introduction, main body and conclusion. The introduction includes analysis of ballads from the viewpoint of literary theory. The main body attempts to analyse and compare concrete historical ballads with real historical events and figures and it gives a picture of Medieval English society and its values. The conclusion is based on the analysis of ballads and summarizes the research of the thesis. The study material covered and cited in the thesis includes both primary and secondary sources.
