Specifics of nursing care in obese patients

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou péče o obézní pacienty ve zdravotnických zařízeních. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a část praktickou. Teoretická část vysvětluje pojem obezita v kontextu historického vývoje společnosti a věnuje se jejímu výskytu v rámci České republiky, dále seznamuje s jednotlivými typy obezity. Po vysvětlení základních pojmů poukazuje práce na specifika ošetřovatelské péče právě u pacientů trpících výše uvedeným onemocněním, a to s ohledem na problematiku integrity kůže projevující se výskytem dekubitů, vředů, dermatitidy a komplikovaným hojením ran. Dále se práce věnuje podávání léčiv obézním pacientům, zajištění cévního přístupu, měření krevního tlaku, umělé plicní ventilaci, kardiopulmonální resuscitaci. V souvislosti s poskytováním výše uvedených úkonů je pozornost věnována bezpečné manipulaci s pacienty s ohledem na možná rizika a jejich prevenci nejen u samotných pacientů, ale také pro personál.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the care of obese patients in health care institutions. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part explains the concept of obesity in the context of the historical development of society and focuses on its occurrence in the Czech Republic and introduces the different types of obesity. After explaining the basic concepts, the thesis points out the specifics of nursing care in patients suffering from the aforementioned disease, with regard to the issue of skin integrity manifested by the occurrence of decubitus, ulcers, dermatitis and complicated wound healing. The thesis also deals with the administration of drugs to obese patients, provision of vascular access, blood pressure measurement, artificial pulmonary ventilation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation. In connection with the provision of the above-mentioned actions, attention is paid to the safe handling of patients with regard to possible risks and their prevention not only for the patients themselves, but also for the staff.
