Child – full-fledged spectator: Scenic work of Polarka Theatre for kids from birth till five years

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá tvorbou divadla pro děti, přičemž pozornost je soustředěna na diváckou skupinu od narození do pěti let. V první části vychází z odborných publikací a nabízí základní vhled do zkoumané problematiky divadla pro děti, a to ze strany jak teorie, tak tvůrců. Následně je pozornost věnována vývojové psychologii dítěte ve zvolené věkové kategorii. Jsou popsány jednotlivé fáze vývoje se zaměřením na specifika daného období a potřeby dítěte jakožto potenciálního diváka. Ústředním bodem druhé části práce je brněnské Divadlo Polárka, kdy je nejprve uvedena stručná historie divadla a popis současného chodu. Následně práce vychází z provedených strukturovaných rozhovorů. Získané poznatky a myšlenky jsou posléze srovnávány s realitou dvou inscenací pro věkovou kategorii 0–3 a 3–5 let. Souhrnně práce cílí na otázku, jak je v dnešní době nahlíženo na tvorbu pro děti od narození do pěti let a jakým způsobem lze pro tuto skupinu tvořit divadlo.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the creation of theater for children, focusing on the audience from birth to five years. The first part proceed from professional publications and offers a basic insight into the issues of theater for children, both by theory and creators. Afterwards, attention is paid to the developmental psychology of the child devided into catogories according to age. The individual phases of developmental psychology are described with a focus on the specifics of the period and the needs of the child as a potential spectator. The main point of the second part of the thesis is the Polárka Theater in Brno. First is known the history of the theater and than there is a description of the current status. Afterwards the thesis is based on structured interviews. The acquired knowledge are then compared with the reality of two productions for the age category 0–3 and 3–5 years. In summary, the thesis aims at the question of how the work for children from birth to five years is viewed today and how theater can be created for this group.
