Stress factors in the work of a nurse

Abstract:

Úvod: Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou stresu a jeho faktorů na zdravotní stav sester v ambulancích. V teoretické části se budeme věnovat pozici manažera, dále problematikou stresu a jeho obecnými informacemi. Bude zde kapitola zaměřená na duševní hygienu a zmíníme i pandemii COVID-19 a její psychický dopad. V závěru teoretické části zmíníme krátce syndrom vyhoření a blíže seznámíme s použitým Meistrovým standardizovaným testem a dalšími hojně využívanými standardizovanými testy. Metodika: Cílem praktické části bylo objektivizovat výskyt stresových faktorů u zdravotních sester pracujících na ambulancích. Cílem bylo rovněž zjistit, jaké metody či formy odpočinku sestry preferují. Výzkumné šetření probíhalo pomocí kvantitativního výzkumu, kdy byl zvolen anonymní námi vytvořený dotazník doplněný standardizovaným Meisterovým dotazníkem. V dotazníku byly položeny otázky věnované tématu COVID-19 a jeho vlivům na respondenty. Dohromady byly sesbírány odpovědi od celkového počtu 108 respondentů. Výsledky: K ověření stanovených hypotéz byla využita statistická metoda chí-kvadrát test nezávislosti, Fisherův exaktní test a neparametrický párový Wilcoxův test. Zjistili jsme například, že doba praxe má vliv na psychickou zátěž, při níž nelze vyloučit zdravotní rizika. Dále jsme mimo jiné zjistili, že nejčastější aktivitou, která pomáhá sestrám zvládat stres je dovolená, dále procházka v přírodě a spánek. Na druhé straně nejméně na stres působí neprofesionální chování k pacientovi, užívání antidepresiv a kouření. Závěr: V závěru práce jsou stanovené teoretické hypotézy vyhodnoceny.

Abstract:

Introduction: This diploma thesis deals with the issue of stress and its factors on the health status of nurses in ambulances. In the theoretical part we will focus on the position of the manager, then on the issue of stress and its general information. There will be also a chapter focused on mental hygiene and we will mention the COVID-19 pandemic and its psychological impact. In conclusion of the theoretical part, we will shortly mention the burnout syndrome and we will get to know more about used Meister standardized test and other profusely used standardized tests. Methodology: The practical part aimed to objectify the occurrence of stress factors in nurses working in ambulances. The goal was also to find out which methods or forms of rest the nurses prefer. The research investigation was carried out using quantitative research when an anonymous questionnaire created by us supplemented with the standardized Meister questionnaire was chosen. In the questionnaire, questions were asked about the topic of COVID-19 and its effects on the respondents. Answers were collected from a total of 108 respondents. Results: For verification of the established hypotheses were used the statistical method chi-square test of independence, Fisher's exact test and non-parametric paired Wilcox test. For example, we found out that the length of practice affects mental stress, in which health risks cannot be ruled out. We also found out, that the most common activity that helps nurses manage stress is vacation, then a walk in nature and sleep. On the other hand, the least impact on stress have unprofessional behavior towards the patient, use of antidepressants, and smoking. Conclusion: At the end of the thesis are evaluated the established theoretical hypotheses.
