Proffessional competence of social workers in retirement homes.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá popisem využití kompetencí v práci sociálních pracovníků v domově se zvláštním režimem. Teoretická část obsahuje kapitoly, které objasňují pojmy sociální práce a sociální pracovník, ukotvení této profese v legislativě České republiky. Další kapitola přináší přehled fyzických, psychických a sociálních změn, které se objevují ve stáří. Podrobněji se tato práce zabývá popisem problémů, které souvisí s demencí. Starý člověk postižený demencí často potřebuje péči, kterou mu může nabídnout jen instituce. Přehled sociálních služeb a podrobnější popis péče, která je poskytována v domovech pro seniory a v domovech se zvláštním režimem je čtenáři představena v další z kapitol teoretické části. Poslední kapitola teoretické části informuje o kompetencích, které musí sociální pracovník mít, aby mohl vykonávat svou profesi. Praktická část obsahuje dotazníkový průzkum zaměřený na využití kompetencí sociálního pracovníka v péči o klienty na zvláštním režimu. Z dotazníku vyplynulo, že si sociální pracovníci uvědomují své kompetence, získávají je v průběhu přípravy na povolání. Avšak práce je převážně zaměřena na administrativu a manipulaci s financemi klientů a na klienty samé a jejich rodiny zůstává pracovníkům jen velmi málo času.

Abstract:

The Bachelor?s Thesis describes the use of competences in the work of social workers in the home with special regime. The Theoretical Part consists of chapters on explanation of the notions of the social work and the social worker as well as the Czech legislation concerning this profession. The next chapter presents an overview of physical, psychological and social changes associated with the old age, specifically problems with dementia. The senior affected by dementia often needs care that only an institution can provide. Other chapters offer an overview of social services and a more detailed description of care provided by retirement homes and homes with special regime. The last chapter of the Theoretical Part is on competences necessary for the social worker to be able to carry out their work. The Practical Part contains a questionnaire survey focusing on the use of competences in the work of social workers in the home with special regime. The survey has shown that social workers are aware of their competences and they acquire them through the educational process in the preparation for the job. However, their work is mainly focused on administration and financial matters concerning the clients, and little time is left for the actual work with and for the clients and their families.
