The transition of youth from youth detention center to an unassisted life

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce „Přechod mládeže z výchovných ústavů do samostatného života.“ se zabývá životem dětí ve výchovných ústavech a jejich následným přechodem do života samostatného, jejich možnostmi po opuštění ústavů a četností jejich využití. Dále pak přípravou, která je jim v samotných zařízeních poskytnuta a jejich vnímáním dostatečnosti nebo nedostatečnosti této přípravy. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí – teoretická část a výzkumná část. V teoretické části se práce zabývá vymezením a charakterizováním základních pojmů, které se dotýkají problematiky ústavní a ochranné výchovy. Tato část je rozdělena do tří kapitol. První z nich se zabývá samotnými výchovnými ústavy, jejich organizací a strukturou, kladnými a zápornými stránkami těchto institucí a jejich pracovníky. V druhé kapitole je prostor věnován mladým lidem, kteří se ve výchovných ústavech nacházejí. Příčinami pobytu v ústavech a riziky, které tento pobyt přináší. Poslední kapitola se věnuje přechodu mladých lidí z ústavů do samostatného života a jejich přípravou v ústavech na tento přechod a možnostmi, které se mladým lidem po odchodu naskýtají. Ve výzkumné části se věnuji teoretickému vymezení metod, které jsem ve svém výzkumu použila. Dále pak samotnému výzkumu, jehož hlavní výzkumná otázka zní následovně: Je z pohledu mladých dospělých, žijících ve výchovných ústavech, příprava na přechod do samostatného života a informovanost o možnostech, které se jim po odchodu nabízejí, ze strany výchovných ústavů dostatečná?

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis „The adaptation to trasition of youth from youth detention center to an unassisted life“ concerns the life of childern during their emplacement in youth detention center and consecutive transition to unassisted life, as well as their oportunities after leaving the institution and also deals with question whether these oportunities are used or not. Furthermore, this work focuses on evaluation of provided care and educational quality and also tries to find out if the preparation for consecutive life is considered sufficient by objective ones. This thesis is divided into two parts – theoretical one and research. The theoretical part describes basic terms concerning institutional education. The theoretical part consists of three chapters. First chapter deals with youth detention centers and its organization, structure and staff. In addition this chapter describes positives and negatives of these institutions. The latter one focuses on youth placed in the institution, causation of the emplacement and also risks conneceted with living in the institution. The last chapter concerns education and preparation of youth during during their stay in youth detention center, transition to unassisted life and their opportunities after abandonment of the institution. The research part focuses on theoretical description of methods used in this work. Moreover, it contains research itself with main research question: „Is it from the perspectivity of youth from youth detention center the preparation to transition to an unassisted life and the quality of information concerning opportunities in further life provided by youth detention centers sufficient?“
