Influence of season and stable microclimate on the incidence of mammary gland disease in Holstein dairy cows in a particular farm

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce bylo zhodnotit vliv mikroklimatu a ročního období na výskyt mastitid ve dvou stavebně odlišných stájích v podniku na Vysočině. Hodnocení probíhalo od března 2023 do března 2024. Byla hodnocena průměrná teplota a relativní vlhkost, ze kterých bylo vypočteno THI. V každém měsíci byl zaznamenán počet dojnic, u kterých se projevila mastitida, spolu s informacemi o mléčné produkci, původci a léčbě onemocnění. Tato data byla následně porovnána s daty z výsledků kontroly užitkovosti celého stáda. Bylo zjištěno, že největší vliv na výskyt zánětů mléčné žlázy má relativní vlhkost vzduchu ve stáji, nejvíce v období podzimu, na jaře a v létě. Mezi stájemi nebyl prokázán statisticky průkazný rozdíl v hodnotách mikroklimatu, ale byl prokázán rozdíl mezi množstvím nemocných krav mezi stájemi. U dojnic s mastitidou byla statisticky prokázána změna v denním nádoji a složkách mléka ve srovnání s celým stádem, kromě procenta tuku a bílkoviny ve stáji 1. Nejčastějším původcem mastitid byl zjištěn Streptococcus uberis.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the influence of microclimate and season on the incidence of mastitis in two structurally different stables in a farm in the Vysočina region. The evaluation was carried out from March 2023 to March 2024. The average temperature and relative humidity were evaluated, from which the THI was calculated. In each month, the number of cows that developed mastitis was recorded, along with information on milk production, causative agent and treatment of the disease. These data were then compared with data from whole herd performance monitoring. It was found that the relative humidity in the barn had the greatest influence on the incidence of mastitis, with the greatest influence in autumn, spring and summer. There was no statistically significant difference in microclimate values between stables, but there was a difference in the amount of sick cows between stables. There was statistical evidence of a change in daily milk yield and milk components in cows with mastitis compared to the whole herd, except for fat and protein percentage in barn 1. Streptococcus uberis was found to be the most common causative agent of mastitis.
